KANSAS CITY, Mo. — U.S. 24 in Independence was briefly closed in both directions at the intersection with Missouri 291 Monday afternoon after a suspect feld from officers and crashed, Independence police said.
A spokesperson for the Independence Police Department said the suspect fled from a traffic stop, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car.
Three people, including the suspect, were taken to local hospitals.
Sometime around 4 p.m., all lanes of U.S. 24 reopened to traffic.
There are no details available yet on the circumstances of the incident.
