KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UMKC students left early or didn't have class at all Tuesday due to deteriorating weather conditions.

University officials were responding to the freezing rain and sheets of ice that covered the streets.

We talked with UMKC students who were a little disappointed that they were sent home but said they'd use the rest of the day to study.

Ramon Smith and Jacob Swartzberg walked back to their rooms after class. They were disappointed classes were canceled.

"We're supposed to have a lot of rehearsals today. I'm bummed that we don't have those," said Swartzberg.

UMKC canceled classes at 10:30 a.m. due to weather conditions, which included evening classes and activities.

Park University and Metropolitan Community College also canceled classes on Tuesday.
