KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A cross-country Alaska Airlines flight from New York to Los Angeles made an unplanned landing Thursday at Kansas City International Airport after a passenger threatened the safety of the aircraft.
A statement from Alaska Airlines said flight 411 took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport around 1 p.m. Central time bound for Los Angeles International Airport.
As the flight passed over Kansas City, the airline said a passenger became combative and unruly.
The plane landed without incident just before 4 p.m. and the passenger was taken into custody at the airport. The airline said federal officials are continuing to investigate, including the FBI, 41 Action News has learned.
There were 177 passengers and six crew members on board the Boeing 737-900 plane. The airline said the remaining passengers and crew are scheduled to continue on to Los Angeles soon.
