KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A train derailed around 70 cars Thursday morning in north-central Missouri near the Iowa border.
The southbound Union Pacific train derailed around 7:30 a.m. at U.S. 65 and Destiny Loop near Mercer, Missouri, according to a Union Pacific spokeswoman.
Kristen South, senior director of corporate communications and media relations, said no hazardous materials were involved, and no one was injured in the incident.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
