Viral Facebook post recounts hit and run crash that injured 3 Olathe teens

Sydney Summers, Tierney Carley and Gwyneth Allen were leaving the Royals game on April 28th, trying to get onto 435 when another car T-boned them.

"Hearing the sound of like the boom of the crash, that was probably the most terrifying thing I've ever heard in my life," Sydney said.

The car rolled twice and landed upside down with all three girls still inside. Sydney and Tierney both got out, but Gwyneth's door wouldn't open.

"I remember like yelling make sure you get Gwen out. Make sure you get her out," Tierney remembered.

Gwyneth was actually talking to her mom, Toby Allen, when the crash happened.

"She was screaming 'oh my god mom. Oh my god. Oh my god,'" Toby shared.

The feeling for her was; "Terror because you could hear the terror in the girl's screams because they were shrieking. It was just the scariest thing I've ever heard. Then all of a sudden I just heard a man say you're going to be okay. I'm going to get you out."

That man was Larry Rutledge. He told 41 Action News, "I've got two kids and I know if they were in an accident and I was on the phone with them and not able to be there, how scary that would be."

"He was like, I'm going to count to three and then unbuckle it and I fell on like a blanket," Gwyneth said. They crawled out of the car together from there.

Larry stressed that he was one of many people who stopped to comfort and assist the girls until paramedics arrived. He's now joining their families in calling for the person who's responsible to come forward.

When it comes to Larry, Toby said, "There's no words that could ever explain how thankful that all of us are. He was an angel for us."

The girls are all healing from bruised ribs and concussions, still afraid of driving and even riding in cars at times. Sydney said, "If you look at the pictures it's a miracle that we basically walked away unharmed."
