Visitation, services announced for crossing guard struck by car in KCK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The public will have an opportunity to thank a Kansas City, Kansas, crossing guard who died while protecting two children Tuesday.

Bob Nill, 88, died Tuesday morning when he was struck by a car traveling along Leavenworth Road. He stopped two young boys from entering the crosswalk moments before the crash.

The family said Wednesday that Nill will be remembered with a visitation from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Christ the King Parish, 3024 N 53rd St. in KCK.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb., 24, also at the church.

The visitation and service will be open to the public.

Nill’s heroic actions have been recognized across Kansas City on social media.
