KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Bonner Springs Walmart will reopen Thursday morning after the store shutdown Wednesday night because of a suspicious package.
Police said someone came into the store, dropped a backpack and left.
The suspicious activity prompted the evacuation as law enforcement was brought in to check the backpack around 9 p.m. The store was placed on a lockdown, according to a post from the Bonner Springs Police Department on Facebook.
The package was deemed safe about 11 p.m.
There is no word on what was in the backpack, but there also is no report of injuries.
The Walmart is located as 12801 Kansas Avenue. Police are asking people to avoid the area.
