KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly two dozen animals left in limbo when the Warrensburg City Council voted last week to close Old Drum and Friends Animal Shelter now have a new home.

The Wayside Waifs Rescue Team transported 22 animals from Warrensburg to its Kansas City, Missouri, shelter Thursday afternoon, according to a post on Facebook.

“The medical team at Wayside will evaluate the animals before they will be made ready for adoption,” the nonprofit said in a Facebook post.

The team arrived safely back in Kansas City later on Thursday.

The shelter in Warrensburg closed due to a lack of funding. If you’re unable to adopt a pet but want to help care for the displaced animals, Wayside Waifs suggests a monetary donation to help fund its mission.
