KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With gyms closed and some fitness industry professionals out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic, one Kansas City supplement company decided to give back.

Jeff Wasserman and Kyle Comes, co-owners of Supplement Superstores Kansas City, created a fundraiser to raise money for those in need. They partnered with local company Sportswear etc. to make T-shirts.

All five Supplement Superstores locations in the Kansas City metro have the shirts available, and they are asking people in the community to donate what they can.

"We want to raise at least $30,000,” Comes said, “and the way that we’re going to distribute it is that we’re going to distribute it to the gyms and to the trainers that are most in need.”

Wasserman said that, as a community, they are “in this together.”

"We wanted to come up with something that felt local that felt like Kansas City, which is why you see the ‘KC’ in the name,” Wasserman said.

Shirts can be picked up in person or curbside. Supplement Superstores employees also can deliver the purchase.

Supplement Superstores has locations in Kansas City, Missouri, Liberty, Shawnee, Olathe and Overland Park.
