BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — One Blue Springs family is finding a way to create special moments with their loved ones, at a safe distance, as social distancing is still encouraged despite stay-at-home orders beginning to lift.

Danielle Niccoli and her four children decided to surprise their grandmother, Sheryl Penniman, with a special message to let her know they care.

The children, 3-year-old Dominic, 7-year-old Anthony, 11-year-old Savannah and 13-year-old Alyssa, lined up outside Penniman's apartment window with signs spelling "We Love You Grandma."

"We just thought it would make her feel better," Alyssa said.

Danielle said that's exactly what happened.

"She was very happy, taking pictures, and said it was very sweet," Danielle said.

The children even taped the message to Penniman's window so she could see it whenever she wanted to. They plan to do it again, to continue letting her know, they miss her too, knowing it's better for her to stay inside.

"We just want her to do whatever she needs to do to be safe, " Danielle said. "If that means we can't be together for a while, then we'll, we'll do whatever we can to make it work. "
