KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With many restaurants remaining closed due to COVID-19, farmers are finding new places to pass on much of their unused produce.
Many farmers have donated to Harvesters, which allowed the nonprofit to partner with Overland Park Christian Church to give away 10 pallets' worth of fresh food Monday.
The church usually hosts two pick-ups per month, but the reverend says people are showing up for a third day.
"We see that they are lining up in advance and so there is definitely a lot more need and people are showing up so they can get their spot in line," Rev. Laura Philips said.
The church is working to find equipment that will enable it to give out dairy products.
