KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Health care workers in the Kansas City region and beyond received a significant donation of medical masks on Friday.
Heart to Heart International partnered with FedEx to give out 170,000 masks, along with other items.
Heart to Heart usually responds to natural disasters, such as hurricanes or tornadoes. That response is much different than what the organization is doing today.
“It’s in one place, and the rest of the world or the rest of the country is not impacted by it, so you’re able to send a lot of aid to that one place and you’re able to get resources from some other place to take there,” Dan Neal, vice president of operations for Heart to Heart said of previous disasters. “In this instance, with COVID-19, the whole world is impacted by it. Supply chains are messed up, in terms of PPE (personal protective equipment), everywhere you go.”
The group also is sending hygiene kits to social service groups. Fifteen organizations in four states will benefit from the efforts.
