KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Churches across the Kansas City metro came together on Saturday to collect food donations.
Organizers like Randall Leonard, director of Community and Global Partnerships, said the novel coronavirus hit many in the community hard, and some people need assistance for the first time.
"Many businesses have furloughed employees, so we're just trying to help meet the needs of those that weren't anticipating being in this situation at this time," Leonard said.
Donations will go to the Calvary Community Outreach Center.
The “What if the Church” network includes 86 churches across the metro area.
