KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The West Peculiar Fire Protection District has announced funeral arrangements for the firefighter who died Sunday after battling a house fire.
The visitation for Chuck McCormick, 30, will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Abundant Life Church, 304 Southwest Persels Road in Lee’s Summit.
A firefighters walk-through will take place at 5:30 p.m. during the visitation.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Abundant Life Church. Full professional honorswill be afforded.
McCormick served with the 1135th Eng. Co. in the Army National Guard from September 2011-14. Following his military service, McCormick worked for Cherokee County (Georgia) Fire and Emergency Services from October 2014 to September 2017. He also served with the South Metro Fire Protection District (Raymore) from January 2018 to November 2019.
He had only been a member of the West Peculiar Fire Protection Districtfor three weeks.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel; his sons, Kyler, Kaiden and Kolten; mother, Melanie; and brothers Warren and William.
