LEAWOOD, Kan. — Traffic is expected to be back to normal Friday after several lanes were flooded in Johnson County.
Just after 11 a.m. Monday, Water One crews were working to stop a 20-inch water main break near Town Center Plaza.
Leawood Police closed both directions of 119th Street between Nall and Roe Avenue for crews to asses the damage and make repairs.
Crews reopened all but one westbound lane of 119th Street to traffic after 6 p.m. Monday.
A spokeswoman with Water One said the water main break was caused by ground shifting, which happens this time of year due to rising temperatures.
The water main break even caused some restaurants at Town Center Plaza to close around the lunch hour Monday due to low water pressure. Water One said the water quality was not affected.
Rain slowed down repairs on 119th Street, but crews are scheduled to finish repairs Friday morning and reopen the westbound lane of 119th Street Friday afternoon.
