"Our amazing team wold love to see you before we hibernate for a few months," the Beer Kitchen's post said

Beer Kitchen has been open in Westport since 2011.

The restaurant explained the decision in response to a question in the comments, noting that "without a patio, we don't have the space inside to make it work during the colder weather to keep everyone safe."

Many restaurants have turned to curbside, to-go meals and outdoor seating in recent months as the COVID-19 pandemic has decimated the industry, but the changing weather will limit some of those options.

According to data from Yelp, nearly 20,000 restaurants in the U.S. have closed permanently amid the pandemic through the end of August.
