Election Day has come and gone, but the campaign signs remain, for now.
In Kansas City, Missouri the city encourages residents to take them down promptly. There's no clear timetable on when they have to come down, but if it gets out of hand city leaders plan to step in.
"We do sign sweeps occasionally if we feel it's an issue in certain areas and a threat to public safety," Beth Breitenstein tells 41 Action News. "We will go out and do sign sweeps in those cases."
Under no circumstance can signs be less than 10 feet fro the curb. Across state lines in Wyandotte County, the rules are a bit more clear. According to an ordinance, campaign signs can only be up 45 days before an election and have to come down no more than two days after. Size and distance are up to the municipalities, but an unspoken rule is that common courtesy trumps all.
Voters like Michael Curry can't wait to see the signs come down.
"I've seen them for too long," he said. "They're done. We should get rid of them. It's over!"
