KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on 71 Highway shorter after 11 p.m. Friday.
Police say a southbound vehicle was traveling on 71 Highway, in the left lane.
At Gregory, a black female was crossing, in the crosswalk, west to east.
The vehicle struck the pedestrian and kept going southbound on 71 Highway.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence indicates that the vehicle is a 2012-2015 Chevrolet Equinox with front-end damage.
Witnesses say it was either a black or dark blue SUV.
All lanes of southbound 71 Highway were closed approximately 3 1/2 hours.
