KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot at early Sunday morning near Linwood Boulevard and Walrond Avenue.
Kansas City, Missouri, police were called to the scene shortly before 5:30 a.m. after receiving a call that a woman had been shot.
The woman has been transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The suspected shooter fled the scene.
The shooting marked the fourth incident involving a total of six shooting victims to which KCPD detectives were called to in a four-hour span.
One person was killed in a double shooting around 1:45 a.m. near East 18th and Vine streets.
Less than an hour later, two people were shot around 2:30 a.m. near Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard, including one victim who suffered life-threatening injuries.
Detectives were then called to a shooting less than five minutes later Truman Road and Manchester Avenue.
The condition of the victim in that third shooting incident currently is unknown.
There have now been 85 homicides so far in KCMO, including the one this morning in the 18th and Vine Jazz District.
There were 61 homicides through June 19 in 2019, when police investigated 150 for the year.
There were 54 homicides through June 19 in 2018 and 68 in 2017.
