KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The leading cause for death of women in the United States is heart disease.
It's a disease that's 95 percent preventable.
Saint Luke's Women's Heart Center, the first women's heart center in the nation, states one of the biggest changes they've seen in the past 25 years is the amount of research that's been done.
Dr. Tracy Stevens says there are six simple steps to prevent it:
- Have a healthy body weight
- Exercise
- Don't smoke
- Avoid prolonged sitting
- Limit alcohol
- Eat healthy
