KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said Friday that he will seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing two sheriff’s deputies in 2018.
Dupree field a notice of intent to seek a death sentence for Antoine Fielder, who is charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated robbery.
Fielder is accused of killing deputies Patrick Rohrer, 35, and Theresa King, 44, while they were transporting inmates, including Fielder, to the Wyandotte County Courthouse on June 15, 2018.
Fielder has a lengthy criminal history, including charges in a 2017 homicide in Kansas City, Missouri, where he is accused of killing a woman.
He also was charged with murder in the 2015 death of Kelsey Ewonus. The case went to trial twice, but both ended in hung juries.
Kansas hasn’t executed an inmate on death row since 1965.
