KANSAS CITY, Mo.  A local girl is not only eating her veggies, but she's growing and selling them, too.

Addie, 7, is a Youth Vendor at the City Market. She shares the booth with her older sister, who was also in the Youth Vendor program.

They're part of the new Mini Market on Wednesdays, which is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until August 29.

She grows potatoes, beets, green onions, Swiss chard, kale, and more on her family's farm.

Addie said growing vegetables is hard because "you have to hand put the seeds in," but she loves it.

Addie is the first youth vendor of the season, but the program is open to kids ages 5 to 18.

The Mini Market offers local produce from specialty and urban growers. It also gives people a chance to stop by during the week when the City Market isn't as crowded.
