Area utilities stop disconnects due to coronovirus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several local utility companies said they will not disconnect service to customers as communities address coronavirus.

Evergy will not disconnect service for non-payment as customers and communities are facing potential hardship from COVID-19

The temporary moratorium includes residential and business customers.

if customers need information about payment options, they should contact customer service. Payment arrangements can be set up online at evergy.com.

Atmos Energy also said it has suspended natural gas disconnections.

Customers who need help paying their bill can visit atmosenergy.com.

KC Water also is temporarily halting shut-offs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

KC Water encourages customers to use online payment service and other self-service options instead of visiting the customer lobby.

The water department also is taking measures to temporarily change some business practices to minimize employee contact with customers in the field.

Customers can go to www.kcwater.us to pay their bill, to set up payment arrangements and start or stop service.
