KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As state, county and local jurisdictions race to enact prevention measures against the spread of the coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines Sunday night.

Those guidelines call for public gatherings to be limited to 50 people for the next two months.

The guidance was posted on the CDC’s website Sunday night.

“Therefore, CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events and mass gatherings, recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.”

This is a developing story and will be updated.
