Franklin County, KS, officials announce 8th COVID-19 case in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas’ eighth presumptive positive case of COVID-19 was reported Saturday afternoon in Franklin County, Kansas.

Details of the victim weren’t provided in a press release from county officials, though the release said “precautions have been taken and anyone who we believe has come in close contact with this individual has been quarantined.

As a result of the positive test, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners declared a state of local disaster for the county.

The announcement was the second new case disclosed Saturday in the state.

Earlier Saturday,Johnson County, Kansas health officials announced a woman had tested presumptuously positive for COVID-19.

As part of Saturday’s announcement, Franklin County, Kansas Health Officer Dr. William Ransom ordered all Franklin County schools to suspend classroom and extra-curricular activities through at least March 30.
