MLB suspends Spring Training; delays Opening Day by 2 weeks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Major League Baseball Thursday afternoon became the latest league to announce a pause to games to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league is suspending Spring Training underway in Florida and Arizona as of 3 p.m. Thursday.

Additionally, the league will delay opening day by at least two weeks. For the Kansas City Royals, opening day was originally set for Thursday, March 26 against the Chicago White Sox.
