KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wichita has its first presumptive positive case of COVID-19.

Wesley Medical Center announced Friday that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed late Thursday night that a patient was presumptive positive.

The patient is being isolated and safety precautions have been put in place.

The KDHE later said the patient is a 72-year-old Butler County resident who returned to Kansas from a Caribbean cruise.

The medical center also instituted visitor restriction. Guests must enter certain doors and be screened.

This is the sixth confirmed case of COVID-19 in Kansas. One person has died from the virus in the state.
