Republican U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt fires back at Democratic opponent Jason Kander's gun ad

Missouri senator Roy Blunt’s campaign responded on Tuesday to his opponent’s national-attention-grabbing gunad.

The ad titled “Only One” shows multiple videos of blindfolded people assembling guns, including video of Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander from his ad, the narrator then points out that Kander is the only one shown who serves as a Hillary Clinton chairman.

The ad then trumpet’s Kander’s “F” rating with the NRA and attacks Kander’s support of amnesty for illegal immigrants, a claim Kander's campaign denies.

"Jason does not support amnesty," said Kander campaign spokeswoman Anne Feldman. "He supports a plan like the bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform bill that passed the Senate in 2013 and was supported by Marco Rubio. Senator Blunt stood in the way of this comprehensive reform and voted to leave our flawed immigration system as it is."

"When it comes to the U.S. Senate, Missouri voters know what's important," the narrator announces in the closing seconds of Blunt's 30-second spot.

The ad comes a day after reports surfaced that Senate republicans plan to spend “7 figures” on ads for Senator Blunt.

Contents of the ad buys are expected to continue the theme of “Only One” by linking Kander to Clinton, who is trailing GOP nominee Donald Trump in most Missouri polls.

Senate Democrats last week announced $3.5 million in investments toward Kander’s campaign.

UPDATE: Jason Kander's campaign responded to Senator Roy Blunt's new ad today, saying in part:

"The only thing this ad shows is how nervous Senator Blunt is about his campaign. ... Instead of talking about his work for Missourians, he's talking about our campaign ad."
