Last-minute endorsements come in for Kansas gubernatorial candidates

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A day before the primary, Kansas gubernatorial candidates were still receiving last-minute endorsements.

If President Donald Trump were able to vote in Tuesday’s primary race for the GOP nomination for Kansas governor, he’d vote for Kris Kobach.

Kobach, currently serving as Kansas Secretary of State, is in a tight battle with a host of Republican hopefuls, including incumbent Gov. Jeff Colyer.

He served as vice chairman of Trump's Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, whose aim was to investigate voter fraud. The commission did not present evidence to support the President's claims that voter fraud occurred in the 2016 election.

"I'm very pleased. It's going to be a huge boost to our campaign," said Kobach of the president's endorsement.

Colyer downplayed the endorsement on Monday telling 41 Action News, "The endorsement I am really most interested in is Kansans’."

Former Kansas Senator Bob Dole first endorsed Colyer a week ago. On Monday, he tweeted a message of support.
