Prairie Creek Elementary was damaged after a fire Thursday morning.
The Olathe Fire Department received a report of an automatic fire alarm at the school, located near 167th and Mur-Len Road, around 1:30 a.m.
According to a news release from the Olathe Fire Department, when firefighters arrived they didn't see any smoke or flames coming from the building. After firefighters went inside, they found smoke, from ceiling to floor, in the north part of the school.
Olathe Fire Captain Mike Hall said the fire started in the roof on the northeast side. Investigators have determined lightning caused the fire.
Fire crews worked for about three hours to cool hot spots, according to the news release.
There were no injuries.
A damage estimate is not available yet.
