Firefighters battled a house fire in Mission Hills on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said dispatchers received a call around 1:45 p.m. of smoke in the basement of a residence in the 2100 block of Drury Lane. When the first crews arrived, they found heavy smoke conditions in the basement and a fire that had spread to the back porch.
Crews said they requested a second alarm because of the smoke and the potential for the fire to spread.
Firefighters got the fire under control before 3 p.m. They continue to monitor hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
