JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. – Local food pantries are going digital for donations.

Johnson County Human Services is hosting the "Spring into Spring Break, Fruitful Food Drive" to collect canned fruit.

"Being a very high-requested item, [canned fruit is] also very expensive, so we don't get a lot of those donations," said Brandy Hodge, community relations manager at Johnson County Human Services.

This is their first virtual food drive, in hopes of reaching more people in the community.

"We're trying to post about what we're needing. If I see any sale adds from local grocers, I'll actually post those so that people know what products might be on sale," said Hodge.

All of the food donated will fill three Kansas food pantries in Lenexa, Gardner and Mission.

The food drive runs through Spring Break in March. However, Johnson County Human Services said it is always collecting donations.

Food donations can be dropped off at the Johnson County Human Services building located at 11811 S. Sunset Dr., Ste. 1300, Olathe, KS, 66061.
