Spirit Halloween store in Overland Park has a plan to make Halloween happier for sick kids

Posted

Selling costumes and scary front yard decorations for Halloween isn't the only thing Spirit Halloween store is focused on this month. Spirit Halloweenstores nationwide are helping children's hospitals.

The Spirit Halloween store in Overland Park is collecting donations for Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

When people make their purchases, the store clerks ask them if they would like to make a donation to Children's Mercy.  Caitie Morris, manager at Spirit Halloween in Overland Park said the money helps the Children's Services fund at Children's Mercy.  The money will pay for animal therapy programs, provide educational laptops and a play room for kids. This year, part of the money will pay for a party for young patients who cannot go trick-or-treating because they're sick.

"People are willing to give because they know the money is for a good cause and it stays right here in Kansas City to help our children," said Morris.

You can make a donation at the Spirit Halloween store at 119th and Metcalf in Overland Park or make a donation online at Spirit Halloween.
