KANSAS CITY, Kan. — One person was killed in KCK late Thursday night.
Police said they were called to the 100 block of New Jersey Avenue just before 11 p.m. on reports of shots fired.
When officers got there, they found an SUV just to the east in the woods. Inside, they found a black man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police on the scene told 41 Action News they believe the victim may have been shot on the sidewalk or in a nearby parked car, and then wandered into the woods.
There have been no arrests and no suspect description is available.
Police said they will release the victim’s identity when the family has been notified.
