An investigation is underway into the KCK street department for overtime hours.
41 Action News obtained documents showing two employees who consistently logged overtime for weeks on end. The documents show consistent overtime during 2014 and most of 2015, until suddenly the overtime dropped off.
In 2012, the employees’ salaries were each at $43,466. In 2014, one employee made more than $57,000 and the other made more than $58,000.
The payroll records show the Unified Government paid out more than 800 hours of overtime to the two employees, totaling nearly $30,000.
A representative for UG would only confirm the investigation and said it is part of a personnel matter.
A union representative said the amount of overtime seems very high and usually, the employees would only get extra pay for special occasions, like helping to direct traffic at the Speedway, or snow removal.
