The Olathe City Council is expected to vote Tuesday night whether or not Garmin will be allowed to expand its center in the city.
The company is looking to build a massive manufacturing and distribution center.
But many Olathe residents near 151st and Ridgeview are unhappy with Garmin's plans to expand.
They believe the new 712,000-square-foot facility would be too close to their homes.
In November, the Olathe Planning Commission voted 4-3 against the project.
Commission members said the expansion failed to meet current city code due to its size and closeness to residential property.
Garmin is looking for an exemption.
They say the expansion could lead to as many as 2,700 new jobs.
Five of the seven council members would have to support it for it to move forward Tuesday.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
