KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two administrators at Oregon Trail Middle School will not be returning, according to a release from Olathe Public Schools.
The district announced Wednesday evening Principal Anne Hawks and Assistant Principal Steve Skoczek will not be returning to the school.
The release didn't explain why Hawks and Skoczek won't be returning or if they are still officially employed by the district. The news left some parents worried.
"All three of my kids are daughters, so of course I have concern," Heath Blackwelder said of the news.
As soon as he received the district's email, Blackwelder began making calls to find out more. While the district declined to comment on the personnel matter, Blackwelder told 41 Action News he did learn student safety is not at risk.
"They told me it didn't have to do with the kids," he said.
Current Assistant Principal Jim Poplau will serve as the interim principal for the remainder of the school year. Rob Thomas, an assistant principal at Chisholm Trail Middle School, will fill Skoczek's role.
The district said it is working with human resources to find permanent replacements for the positions.
