Indoor skydiving iFLY opens in Overland Park

It’s a feeling of freedom, at least freedom from gravity. A new indoor skydiving experience, iFLY, is now open in Overland Park.

"It really doesn't matter if you ask a little kid who is 3 or an adult who is 103, if they could have one super power, what would it be? A lot of them would want to fly," said instructor Jeremy Struemph.

The instructors must be certified through the International Bodyflight Association. After a month of rigorous training, passing instructors are ready to help people fly.

The instructors also take time to teach local school students on physics. That piqued the interest of Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach. He says for the past 10 years the city has worked towards building attractions, like iFLY and Topgolf, to Overland Park.

"It's all about experiences nowadays for people who are our citizens, for the visitors that [have] come to conventions, it's about an experience, and when they come, we want them to have a wonderful experience and the more these venues give them more experiences to have in Overland Park," said Gerlach.

Two one-minute flights for one person are $69.95. There also other packages for flying available.

iFLY will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Friday. On Saturday, they will go to their regular hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
