KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach beat his first challenger in more than 10 years, successfully winning re-election.
Gerlach won with 63 percent of the vote. His opponent, Charlotte O’Hara, won 37 percent of the vote.
Shortly after he won, Gerlach spoke to 41 Action News about what he plans to focus on during the start of his next term.
"I think that entertainment district is the biggest challenge," Gerlach said. "I think we have got to continue to develop the engineering part, the entertainment part. But I think we have some areas that are getting tired and we have to continue to develop some of those areas."
Gerlach was first elected in 2005 and has run unopposed until this election.
