KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Gardner, Kansas woman has pleaded no contest in the murder of a two-year-old girl.

Lindsey Thomasson agreed to enter the plea on the condition charges were reduced from first-degree murder to second-degree murder.

By pleading no contest, Thomasson admitted there was sufficient evidence to be convicted but did not admit to being guilty in the crime.

Thomasson is charged with killing her former fiancé's daughter, two-year-old Presley Kay Porting. Prosecutors say she was beaten to death and that Thomasson put makeup on the girl to cover up the bruises.

They also say Thomasson did not call 911 or any medical help for the girl, which could have experts said could have saved her life.

Her sentencing is set for July 2018.
