Authorities are investigating after a firearm and possible human bones were found in a field.
On April 11, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Interstate 35 and Granite Avenue near Pattonsburg, Missouri.
When officers arrived, a farmer had discovered the shotgun and possible human bones in his field.
The news release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says along with the Daviess County Coroner, the scene was process and numerous human bones were recovered.
The news release says the firearm was confirmed stolen from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.
The incident is related to a stolen Kansas City police car that was found abandoned in Daviess County on I-35 near the 75 mile marker in August 2014.
The news release says the remains will be forwarded to the Kansas City Crime Lab for DNA testing.
