The Metro Squad is helping Grandview police after a man was killed early Monday morning.
Police say three people shot and killed 25-year-old Donald Ray Herron Jr. as he returned to his home on 153rd Street near Barat Avenue around 3 a.m. Monday.
According to Grandview police, the suspects confronted and kept the victim's girlfriend and their son in the bedroom where they had been sleeping. The suspects threatened the woman until she called to have Herron Jr. return home.
Grandview police said once Herron Jr. arrived home he was confronted in the living room by one of the suspects and a struggle occurred. Herron Jr. was accompanied by a friend who tried to assist him, but shots were fired by a suspect and hit the victim. Police said the suspects left the residence soon after the shooting.
According to Grandview police, Herron Jr. was transported to a hospital for treatment and later died.
No arrests have been made.
