The Jackson County, Missouri Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide.

Deputies were called to the 12800 block of Buckner Tarsney Road around 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

When officials arrived, they saw a deceased white woman in an abandoned farm house. Police said another man was shot.

Officials said the area was heavily wooded and rural.

The farmhouse may have been abandoned for at least two years, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp said.

Two persons of interest were found in a vehicle a short time later in the Kansas City area, officials said.

The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office and has yet to be identified.
