KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lee's Summit Police are investigating after thieves stole more than $300 worth of items from a local Boy Scout troop.

Thieves broke into Troop 262's parked trailer sometime last week, taking three Camp Chef Explorer 2 camp stoves new in box from bass pro, two new folding 4' tables, and two Harbor freight adjustable wrenches with carabiners.

The trailer was locked with a padlock, which the thieves broke.

"It was a high-security padlock and obviously not high enough," said Charles Dustin. "It took a beating."

All of the items stolen were brand new. The troop has a campout scheduled in two weeks, they planned to use all of their new tools then.

Now, they have to spend money replacing the stolen tools and adding security measures to the trailer.

"It's kind of sad that they would do something like that and take from us. It's stuff that's not really there to take," said Jackson Lee.
