The threat was made on social media. Part of it read, "I'm going to bring my gun to school tomorrow and anybody I don't like, I'm shooting."
Raytown South released the following statement on Monday:
"This evening we have been made aware of a social media initiated threat against Raytown South High School tomorrow. We have strong leads on the origin of the threat and are working closely with Raytown Police. We will hold school tomorrow as planned with extra patrols and police presence."
School officials have not yet determined who made the social media threat, but say they have strong leads.
A student at Raytown South told 41 Action News he saw the threat reposted on Facebook Monday night.
"It's childish," he said. "It's just another threat. The people who post that stuff are usually just big talkers."
Lower attendance was reported as a result of the threat. Multiple police officers have remained on school campus for safety precautions.
