RAYTOWN, Mo. – Raytown police found stolen property, including two loaded handguns, inside a truck that had been reported stolen.
In the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 27, Raytown police officers were called to the 11000 block of East 56th Terr. in regards to a stolen vehicle.
While officers were on the scene talking to the victim whose truck was stolen, other officers checked a parking lot of an apartment complex near 61st Street and Raytown Rd. Stolen autos had been abandoned there in the past.
Officers checking the apartment complex parking lot discovered the stolen truck. As they approached it, a 14-year-old male exited the truck and started to run from police. After several minutes of searching, the teenager was apprehended in a nearby backyard and taken into custody.
While searching the truck, officers found two loaded handguns that were not in the truck when it was originally stolen. Other pieces of property that were reported stolen last week were also found in the truck.
After being thoroughly searched the truck was returned to its owner.
The case has since been forwarded to the Jackson County Family Court. The suspect's identity will not be released because he is a juvenile.
