WICHITA, Kan. – UPDATE 8 PM 9/11/2017: Wichita Police have confirmed that the body of a child found encased in concrete at a Wichita house belongs to three-year-old Evan Brewer.

A 41 Action News investigation revealed that Evan Brewer's father filed reports with the Kansas Department of Child and Family Services alleging that his son was being abused while in the care of his mother.

Officials said DNA evidence confirmed the body belonged to Evan.

No charges have been filed in the case.

ORIGINAL STORY 9/3/2017:

The remains of a child have been found in a concrete structure that was in a house in the 2000 block of South Vine in Wichita, police told Wichita NBC affiliate KSN-TV.

Officers were called to the house Saturday. The property owner cleaning out the rental house alerted police to a suspicious concrete structure.

When police removed the structure, they found the remains of a child around the age of three years old inside.

Police said residents of the house, a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were arrested earlier in the week and are being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on different charges associated with a child custody case.

The investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.

Authorities said they have a tentative identification on the child but are waiting on confirmation from the Sedgwick County Medical Examiner.

Additional information is expected to be released sometime Tuesday morning.
