KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Liberty, Missouri man attending college in Springfield, Missouri is accused of raping a woman after she attended a #MeToo rally.
Zachary Alperin, 22, is charged with second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy.
According to court documents, the victim had attended a #MeToo rally on the afternoon of Oct. 6 and had plans to go out with Alperin that evening.
The victim told investigators that she went to Alperin's dorm room on the Missouri State University campus and then went to several bars and had several drinks over the course of a few hours. She said they returned to her dorm room and she agreed to let Alperin stay the night but told him, "Do not touch me tonight because I'm drunk."
The victim stated she woke up at about 3:15 a.m. with Alperin naked on top of her and performing sex acts on her. She said she pushed him away, he got dressed, said he was sorry and left the room.
Alperin told investigators, "I guess I tried to force myself on her and I feel like such a terrible person for it."
Alperin's bond is set at $25,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 25.
