KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Following the lead of Gov. Mike Parson and Cass County health officials, Belton will join in Missouri’s broad reopening on May 4.
Mayor Jeff Davis signed an order Tuesday that adopts the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ recommendations for economic reopening.
Belton also will require any business planning to welcome back customers in-person submit a plan to the city regarding its plan for maintaining social distancing and keeping the store clean.
Restaurants, retail stores, gyms, salons, barber shops and any “organizers of planned group gatherings” larger than 10 people are required to submit a plan for adhering to the Health and Senior Services order to backtoworkbelton@belton.org or drop a hard copy in the City Hall night drop box at 506 Main St.
The order remains in effect through May 31.
The Health and Senior Services order recommends people maintain social distancing in public at all businesses.
At dine-in restaurants, that means tables must be spaced at least six feet apart, no communal seating for parties who aren’t part of the same family and no more than 10 people may be at any table or group of tables.
The state’s order also keeps the prohibition on visiting nursing homes and long-term care facilities in place except “to provide critical assistance or in end-of-life circumstances.”
Retail businesses larger than 10,000 square feet may only have 10% of the authorized fire or building code occupancy limit in the store at any given time.
For retail operations in a building smaller than 10,000, that limit is 25% of the occupancy limit.
The order also keeps schools closed for the remainder of the academic year.
