KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Kansas City Chiefs fan turned his backyard into an homage to the home team — all for his grandson.
Bob Schuster, of Olathe, grabbed a couple cans of spray paint and went to work this week, emblazoning the Chiefs' arrowhead emblem on freshly cut grass to create a football field for 3-year-old Doug Schuster.
For the past six months, Doug has been watching Chiefs games on YouTube and reenacting plays. If someone asks Doug what his name is, he's "liable to tell you 'Mahomes.'"
"I swear he knows the Chiefs' 2019 season better than either his PaPa or his daddy, Brett," Bob said.
Bob said he plans to have the yard aerated and reseeded later this year and even if the lawn is ruined by the artwork, he said, "there will be one little boy in Chiefs Kingdom who'll think he's got the greatest 'Papa' in the world."
